Free Accounting Spreadsheet Templates
In this day and age it is extremely difficult to find a free accounting spreadsheet template that suits your needs. A lot of free options will offer the best possible product, but will most likely not be tailored to meet your particular needs.
If you want an Excel based solution, the only real option you have is going to be something like Microsoft Access or Microsoft SQL Server. Either of these may be fine, but both have their problems. Because they are based on Microsoft Office, they have to support some of the same standard functions as Excel does.
Most people don’t know that Excel actually has a slightly different character set than MS Access. While they both have extension points to provide for different sets of characters in your spreadsheets, Excel doesn’t have the ability to connect to the native XLS function.
Excel has the ability to connect to Microsoft Office functions. So if you’re looking for a free accounting spreadsheet template that can connect to Excel’s native functions, there isn’t much better to do than using Excel.
However, there are some companies out there that will offer you a program that can connect to both the excel and the access functions. They’ll make a system that can import and export excel files, MS Access data, and be compatible with the usual accounting functions.
If you choose to use a program like this, it will most likely have several things in common with other MS Office programs. For example, they’ll support Windows Work Folder (MWF) file associations, a custom list of default shortcuts for Windows, and the ability to customize the theme and the toolbar.
These are features that every MS Access user will be using anyway, and they will be supported by Excel. If you’re not interested in those things, you’re going to have to settle for something else.
One other concern with free accounting spreadsheet templates is that they are typically quite limited in capabilities. Many of them will only be able to create basic sheets.
Some will only be able to create simple one-page spreadsheets. Others may have limited formatting attributes.
If you want more features, it may be necessary to pay to get the proper spreadsheet system to work with both excel and MS Access. You’ll most likely find that it will require either one to be connected to the internet or run on a separate computer.
When you choose to use Excel or MS Access, you will be able to look into some great programs like Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Access. These are great in many ways, but just because they’re free doesn’t mean that they’re perfect. YOU MUST READ : free accounting spreadsheet
