With Java spreadsheet language, you can not create new graphical objects and you have to create your own graphical objects.

The key thing is that in Excel, you can get more information from a column than you can get from a column in the Java spreadsheet. Since Java is object oriented and you can create objects, you can make the data retrieval easier and the calculation easier.
In Microsoft Excel, you cannot have multiple commands in a cell since they cannot work simultaneously. In the Java spreadsheet, you can create more objects and you can define more fields in a cell.
